The Magic of Makeup
Here’s a before and after for you- if you notice, I actually do my highlighting and contouring before foundation. I use the foundation to help blend the products together so that it just “glows from beneath.” This way its not so harsh and the colors are being corrected. If I want to add more demension, I just do the rest with powders.

Here’s something quick & easy-
1. Take a white eye liner and line the waterline, highlight the inner corner, brow bone, and use it as a base for the lid. After doing so, take your ring finger to blend and smooth out the product.

2. Take a shimmery highlight color and apply it everywhere you put the white eyeliner- except for the waterline. Also, take your favorite transitional color & define the crease.

3. Apply mascara and black eye liner for a guideline on where to place the lashes.

Here are two looks I was able to create on my self only using the items from my blog and previous post. (richardraymua.tumblr.com) —— With the exception of tools- (brushes, lash curler, &lash adhesive) -the only products I used were the ones from the previous post. Makeup 101: Starting From Scratch
New to make up? Here are my 10 essentials and beauty secrets to share! :) You’ll notice that I’m not recommending products on this post because certain products may work for one, but not the other. This post is merely sharing the 10 items I believe everyone should have in their makeup kit. The items listed can create a soft and natural everyday look, to a glamorous full face!
Lets get stated!
1. Concealer/Corrector (it’s great for concealing blemishes, under eye circles, or even stray hairs on the brow!)
2. Tinted Moisturizer, Bb Cream, or Liquid or Cream Foundation (whatever your preference is- its also optional if using powder foundation)
3. Powder (powder foundation or something sheer/translucent to set the liquid)
—-Hint: Skip if you have dry skin.
4. Bronzer (I actually use a light weight powder that’s a few shades darker than my skin)
—-Hint: I use my bronzer for contour (cheeks, temples, jaw line, eye crease, and nose). I also will double it as blush when I’m rushing. I will also use it as eyeshadow with eyeliner for a nice smokey eye!
5. Highlighter (I like mine to be a shimmery powder)
—-Hint: I use it to highlight my cheeks, brow bone, eye lid, and inner corner of eye- yes, i treat it as an eye shadow too.
6. Lipstick (Get one that’s creamy and has a lot of pigment. Also, a color that’s a little bit brighter.)
—-Hint: Double your lipstick as a cream blush for that nice dewy glow! Also, play with the lipstick’s opacity, dab for less color and swipe more.
7. Brow Pencil (can’t go anywhere without brows- a polished brow is everything)
—-Hint: Play with the intensity! Softer brows for day, stronger more arch for night.
8. Mascara (preferably extra black)
9. Eye Liner (A black and a white pencil, done!)
—-Hint: I like pencils because you’re able to use them as an eye shadow base.
10. Lashes (I like the soft flirty ones- false lashes can really take a basic look and make it glam)Products will always vary and it’ll all depend on your personal preference. The items chosen can create so many different looks if you play and be creative. Remember, its makeup, theres no real rules! Just guidelines. These are some of my tips and tricks that I can’t live without! Any questions? Do not hesitate to ask!

Here’s a bridal look I did in March- this was an extra special wedding for me because the bride is my cousin! Soo happy for you, Rachie! Love you and congrats!
This is one of my favorite eye looks because in person its a sexy taupe and burgundy smokey eye, but its soft and pretty in photography! Heres the trick; whenever you use a shadow that has shimmer, it’ll automatically highlight that area. In this case I put a color like MAC’s satin taupe on her lids, but defined the outer corner and crease with haux, blackberry, and sketch. Although its a taupe color in person, the flash from the photography gives it light in pictures.
